In Memory of Miew Miew and Zeusy's physical body

This is the Summer of 2009;

At the begining of the summer my cat Zeusy who was 19 passed away and his mom Minou 24 passed away just last weekend. Zeusy and I are working on a book called 'What Happens When You Die - You are Forever' .

The other thing that has been going on is the garbage strike; summer of 2009
The city has become infested with rats and other wild animals who normally go to feed outside of the city at the dumps. These animals have come into the city, and as many people have kept thier garbages in their backyards, sheds and parking lots, this is where the animals have come for food.

I need to tell this story because it has been a very big Learning for me. I had racoons, squirrels, rats, bees and flies. I had been working with Chris Wright from - A Animal Removal - Humane Animal Removal for the past two months and he wonderfully managed to get rid of every body but the rats, humanely. He had said to me, along with everybody else that I spoke to Humane or not, that I could get rid of the rats, but only by killing them. I was unsure what to do at the time. So he left me some rat poision, instructions how to use it and told me to call him in a week. Really a caring and good person to work with. He NEW, I didn't. I tried other ways, humane traps ect..... NO WAY. When rats move in they don't listen, they don't care, its them or you.

So I have spent the last three weeks killing rats, my home is sealed off on one side and both MR.Leo and Star have been instructed not to eat them but leave them for mummy to pick up and dispose of. They left one for me on their poop place last week, which by the way, I am very grateful for. I know it sounds sick. But months of not being able to sleep and them thinking they owne the place, eating everything - ENOUGH.

I just needed to tell this story it has been very strange for me killing the rats. I feel like I have waged war and won. And I see dead rat bodies in my head which was really messing me up for a while.

I am now vegan and I feel much better. There has just been to much animal death around me, I simply don't look at meat like meat any more. Perhaps it is that concept that in North America we go to the grocery store and pick a nice piece of meat, and who this peice of meat was before is completely removed from us. By killing the rats in my home this summer, I made a choice to take back my space for myself and my animals I have also seen that we are all animals. I did wage war on the rats and they are extremely smart beings. My morning visits this summer were not to Starbucks but to Canadian tire learning about the tools of warfare. There were many like myself we often exchanged secrets over the potions poisons and traps set out thankfully for us by Canadian Tire.

Thank you for listening to my story. It is an odd story coming from me. And I am grateful for the experience, it has made me/us stronger and I am now veagan.

'What Happens When you Die - You are Forever' by Zeusy and myself should be ready by November, Nancy Lew is doing a second edit on the second rewrite at the moment.

My heart is open to you

September 2008 - Tips for The Kids

Believe in Yourself
All living beings have Absolute Universal Knowledge. It is the light, the spirit, that piece of God or the Creator that lives in each and every one of us. This is the light that makes us all knowing, all one and connects us all to one and other and to our higher power. You access this inner light by doing what is you know or feel is best from the inside.
Dogs – Hot Spots
Although it might seem late in the season for hot spots September has had some warm and humid weather. Hot spots love humid hot and sticky weather.
First check - First and very important. Look back three to four weeks from when you first remember seeing the hot spots or beginning of them. Did you make any changes to your pets physical routine. Ie. Did you change their food, start using a new shampoo, a new detergent(affects their bedding), have you changed their doggy salon, perhaps the shampoo they use it’s not working for them.
- dry patches and irritated skin can be an allergic reaction or sensitivity to a new product. If that is the case first thing you need to do is get rid of the product and either go back to the one that worked or find one that does.
(The most important thing about a product that you use for your pet is that it works for them regardless of what everybody else has to say about it.)
I don’t know that anyone really knows the exact reason for Hot Spots. But we do know that they are itchy messy, very hard on our fury children and make our hearts ache.
Lavender Oil is great on hot spots. First thing in the morning and then again at night on the hot spots and don’t be shy. They may not like the smell so much but it really cleans out the area and helps the healing process.
First put a little on just to make sure that they are not sensitive to the lavender oil. Do not mix with anything or dilute. Right out of the bottle. You can purchase Lavender oil at your local pharmacy, just ask your pharmacist, usually they have it behind the counter. Or at your health food store. Do not buy a cream lotion or product that contains lavender oil. You want lavender oil and no mixing or diluting.
Lavender oil is a gentle natural antibiotic. I also use it for scrapes cuts and burns. One of the wonderful properties of Lavender oil is that it is soothing, it pulls the pain, itching or irritation out then goes to work taking out the infection or bacteria and the healing begins.

You should notice a difference in three days to a week. Just like anything we put on ourselves or our babies, if the condition is not improving or seems worst. Don’t use.

Cats
CATS PEEING AND POOING OUTSIDE OF THE LITTER BOX

Just in case the first thing I ask people before we start working with this problem is, how often do you change the litter box. Some of our new boxes and litters suggest that you never need to change the box. But the bits of remaining litter gets smellier and smellier and the inside of the box can get dirty. So be aware that a cats sense of smell is so much stronger than ours we cannot even comprehend it. So create a regular cleaning out and changing of the litter box routine.

That said:
When your cat is going to the bathroom outside of their litter box, there is something bothering them and they are trying to get your attention. This is a three part process. When working with clients I always divide this into three parts and it is important to focus on each part so here is the first part of the process:

There are three basic steps to solving a pet problem:

1. First we figure out what began the problem or bad behavior,

So let us begin:
First you need to figure out what is bothering them. Think back to when you first remember them going to the bathroom outside of the litter box. Now don’t think that you should come out with an answer right away. I want you to think about it and then I want you to put it into your brain and let the question sit for a bit. Let it sit for a week. You may have an answer immediately or you may think you do, but give it a week.

Our brains work very similarly to computers, you put the idea in and it goes through quite a bit of information before it gives us the right information or file. So don’t worry about it, your brain will eventually take you back to when it first began or when you first noticed it.

Now you have given it a week and you know or have an idea of when the behavior first began.

People

Fall is upon us and cold season is in full swing. The air becomes cold outside and our bodies have to acclimatize. Our doors and windows are closed and the air inside our house is getting warm and dry. If you are still keeping your window open at night and you have a cold then the outside night air is to cold for your system. Close your windows and doors at night and turn on or plug in your humidifier. If you do not have one you can purchase a small plug in humidifier at your local drug store or hardware store. Our systems function best at a certain temperature with a certain amount of moisture that we breathe in and then circulate through our body.

Believe in yourself
What is right for one pet and parent in not necessarily right for another. Park season is beginning and a lot of people gather in the park while their fury children play together. If you are having a problem with your baby and someone is giving you advice that does not sound quite right, that is because it is not the right advice for you. Do what you know is best for you and your baby follow your intuition, you know your baby better than anybody else.

Puppies and Dogs
Peeing/Pooing in the house

Three walks a day
If you have a dog who has always had accidents in the house or are training a new puppy: The magic trick is three walks a day. And that is three walks, plus play time with their friends at the park or in the backyard.

Reasons dogs go to the bathroom inside:
1.Something is bothering them and they are trying to get your attention.
2. They have to go to the bathroom and do not have a regular enough schedule that they can rely on
3. They do not know that pee and poo are for outside or pee pad only (depending on how you are training your dog)

When a dog walks, the process of walking forces the pee and poo from their bodies. Make the walks around the same time everyday. I usually do two longer walks and one shorty. Walking makes them go to the bathroom, keeps them healthy and creates a better understanding between the two of you.

If you have a dog that has always gone to the bathroom outside and has just recently started going to the bathroom inside then something is bothering them and they are trying to get your attention.

Always follow what you feel to be true from your inside regardless of what others have to say. We are connected to our babies through our hearts. You know your fury child better than anybody else so you always understand what is truly best for them.

Flea Season

Cats
Flea season has begun. People are always asking me if I know of any natural product that works. I often use Lavender oil on my cats. A drop or two on three spots along their back. –just behind the neck
-along the middle of the spine
-between the beginning of the tail and the bottom of their spine, that
place that cats like to be rubbed

Lavender oil is a natural anti-biotic, good for their coats and fleas hate it. Try a little first to make sure that your cat does not have any kind of reaction to it.
My cats don’t like the smell. So I don’t put to much on and only use it about once a month or if they start to scratch in between.

Dogs
I once used Australian Tea Tree Oil on the dogs, however I have found that through the years dogs fleas seem to have evolved into a heartier species so natural remedies that used to do the trick no longer work. So Mr.Leo and I will be off to the veterinarian next week for Sentinel.

Dog Tip
If you have a new puppy who likes to eat dirt and or poo, or your dog has taken to eating poo. Check the ingredient list on your dog food. A lot of dog foods offer very good ingredients but if their dog food only has one or two sources of animal protein your doggie might need you to add something to his diet to boost his animal protein intake. This can be done with some good canned dogfoods high in protein (check the dry food you are giving them now, the company may very well have a canned compliment high in animal protein, or share your meat with them, no spices and no fowl bones.

The Portrait Whispers - All we need is Love Star

The Portrait Whispers - All we need is Love

All we need is Love - Star
Star came from Texas. I got her when she was about six months old. She was absolutely terrified and would have nothing to do with me. I tried a number of things, but she was staying scared.
I had an old Tool Box in the corner of the studio and she had taken to going into it and pulling out, the not good for her things. So I emptied the tool box and filled it with stuffed toys. She loved the stuffed toys. At first she completely demolished them, then she would just nibble on them. When she was a puppy her favoirte toys were her green toys. If there was a thunderstorm coming she would bring all of her green toys inside and stand them up together around her bowl.
Recently I had some surgery and spent about two weeks on my couch. One night, just after my surgery it had turned very cold and I had left the window open. Star nudged me awake with her nosey and sent me the thought that I had better close the window because I could catch a cold, then she nudged one of her stuffed toys into my arms.
